Bio

Hey! My name is Shakiyah McCoy and I’m studying fashion and textile management. I’m originally from Pittsburgh, PA but moved to Greensboro, NC when I was in middle school. In my free time I enjoy crocheting, reading and drawing. A fun fact about me is that my childhood dream job was to be a lawyer because I loved reading and history. Being an avid reader made me believe in saying knowledge is power, which is why I chose to be an ambassador so I can share all that I know!

Why Wilson?

I knew for sure that I wanted to major in something related to the fashion industry when I transferred from my local community college. Wilson quickly became my top choice.

What stood out first to me was all the labs and machinery that Wilson has and I didn’t see that within other colleges. When I toured the campus in person I was impressed with the various projects students created. Additionally, the career outcome after graduation, smaller class sizes within Wilson, and various opportunities that are given to students here all made Wilson the place for me.
